Hacking of Bank Accounts

By Dimpho Manca

Spam remains an effective way to deliver malware to computer users. A recent News 24 survey showed that at least 5% of people that click suspicious links sent to them, out of the 5%, 2% say that they have lost a significant amount of money.

Criminal networks are responsible for these attacks making use of various tools to get a person’s account details. Furthermore when explaining how they lost their money, they stated that the hackers stole their money by gaining access to their payment services account. The victims believe that they were tricked by entering their credentials on a fake website. Others believed that their logins and passwords were hacked. However, it is very unlikely that the attacker will be caught. The IP address you posses most likely belongs to another system that the attacker has compromised and is using as a proxy.
